As you become older, there are times in your life that you pause to reflect on the day, the month, the year…
As you all know, well at least those of you not living under a rock or with the Geico Caveman, India suffered from a terrorist attack 2 days ago. Because the attacks targeted westerners, specifically British and American foreign nationals, I made a decision to work from my apartment and not open the front door yesterday. While working from home, glued to CNN, and the couch for that matter, I did a little of this reflecting I mentioned. I happened to get stuck on a saying my mother and grandmother have always repeated. “Always keep plenty of canned goods, water and batteries around in case you get snowed in.” Being from Iowa that makes sense as it is not uncommon for there to be negative temperatures and 3 feet of snow. Being that I am currently in India where I do not think it has ever snowed, I am not Googleing to prove that as I think it would just laugh at me, you have to modify the statement slightly. “Always keep plenty of canned goods, water, and batteries around in case you get snowed in or a terrorist attacks”. Taking the advice of my elders, I went to the store today and stocked up on canned goods.
I would like all of you to know that is God forbid another terrorist attack happens, or I get snowed into my apartment, I will survive. My fridge is now stocked with plenty of beer.
