Around 11 this morning I received a call saying Rachel and family were headed to Commercial Road to pick up a few more gifts before they head home in a few weeks. If I wanted to tag a long I was more than welcome to join them. Talk about an experience. Commercial is about a lane and a half wide and lined with shops on each side, leveraging multiple stories. Every store has an external sign that tried to be more extravagant than the store next to it. Large signs, small signs, bright signs, everywhere there were signs. Where there was not a sign there was a group of people. I have always seen the pictures of Japan with its crowded streets and neon lights; this seemed to be the day time version of that. After a long after noon of hoping from little shop to little shop it was time for food. Rachel has wanted to take me to the Hard Rock CafĂ© for a long time as she thinks I can meet other expats there. The restaurant is amazing, great music, great atmosphere, and best of all, BEEF HAMBURGERS. Hickory BBQ Burger with bacon…ummmm. I have been telling people that there isn’t anything that I am really missing, but a beer and a real hamburger is a fine way to start off the week. For now on if anyone needs to find me on Friday night between the hours of 7 and midnight, check the Hard Rock first :).
